Vocational training opportunities are scarce in poverty stricken rural Rwanda. Embrace Rwanda has set up several schools providing the skills, knowledge in useful trades, thus providing an income for families in the local community.
Some of the training takes place at a central school where courses in sewing, knitting, carpentry, masonry, cooking and baking are offered. Other shorter courses in sewing and knitting are taken to the local communities to make them more accessible to the mums in the program. Shops have been established to facilitate the sale of items made in the school.
